Songtext zu "Grow Up"
The dusk of New Year's Eve approached
With thousands of homes lit up the lamps
The canopy of cyan darkened gradually
The air warmed up in a myriads of lights
The aroma of meals filled up the streets
The blueprint of future was depicted at the dinner table
And at the stroke of midnight, fireworks rose
Illuminating the faces of young and old
In the morning of the Spring Festival
All the way down, passing thousands of homes
The road just seemed so long, never ending
Leading to a new year, a bigger world, endless possibilities
The joy of new year faded not long after
With children leaving parents, back to work
Endless routines refilled schedules
Burying men and women into repetitive work
And shots after shots, masks still on
News after news, as fingers sliding phones
New topics trending, new quarrels beginning
Tides of time push us ahead without asking
And one day when we look back, all of a sudden
Photos of oversea vacations, smiling without masks
All seems so unreal, like a dream long ago
Or are we now in a dream, not yet woken up
And then we look around, seeking for old friends
Some are under shelters, air raid sirens roaring
Some are angrily debating, blocking for different opinions
Yet what we can do are few, words blown away by winds
Then another New Year's Eve, same old lights and warmth
Predictably in time ahead, there'll be many more
But things are slightly changing, accumulating to poles apart
The hope and joy we had, went down in silence
After many departures and tears, compromises and regret
The light in eyes died down, no more daydreaming
Realizing and accepting, the world is not perfect
Parents smile pleased: "Finally you grow up!"
